GHASTLY

DJ-producer Ghastly doesn’t mess around when it comes to the music he creates or the tracks he plays. The Arizona native (who grew up on a goat farm!!) fell in love with music at a young age, and started off headbanging to heavy metal in his early teens. Ghastly started discovering electronic music around 2008, and hardstyle was the first thing he heard. When he learned about the music software, Ableton, he packed up all his things, put them in a van and moved out to the beach to focus on producing music. Slowly but surely, he found his sound as he found a space to express himself creatively in the genre of bass. Part of the OWLSA family, Ghastly has released tracks through the label like bangers 666!, Crank It (with Mija) and Fuk Whatchu Think.

PAUL KALKBRENNER

Paul Kalkbrenner lives and breathes techno. Just 12 years old when the Berlin Wall fell in 1989, Kalkbrenner watched as East Berlin became an anarchic playground for a previously oppressed generation, recently freed from an overbearing state. Techno music became a way of expression and for many, Paul included, the soundtrack of Germany’s reunification. Kalbrenner trusts on his remarkable talent as a producer and live act—no added artificial flashiness needed. He can rave with the best of them, and raise his arms to full dancefloor delirium, but his head will never spin right off.

Make sure you check out his recent EP, Golden Youth, and catch him at the Riverside stage hosted by JAUZ Saturday.
